ORFEUS - the personnel

The information below is a breakdown of the artistic personnel needed for ORFEUSthe world's first House Music Opera.

Actual personnel will vary depending on the venue, number of performances, and other factors.


ABOUT THE DJ - The villain, Pluto, is “performed” by a DJ, either as a live character or depicted musically. The part is structured so that any local DJ (e.g.: based in the region where the performance is given) can easily step into the part, thereby adding his/her local fan base to the show’s audience.

Concert

  • 1 male soloist (Orfeus)

  • 1 sound engineer

  • 1 keyboardist (optional)

  • 1 cello player (optional)

  • instrumental ensemble (optional)

For the Concert production, the entire show is performed to a pre-recorded audio track (either with or without video), unless live instrumentalists are engaged.

 

Semi-Staged

  • 1 male soloist (Orfeus)

  • 1 female soloist (Euridice)

  • 3 actors or dancers (The Furies)

  • 1 keyboardist (optional)

  • small chamber ensemble (e.g.: string quintet, winds, small brass ensemble)

  • 1 DJ

For the Semi-Staged production, the show is performed either entirely to a pre-recorded audio track with video, or a combination of live and pre-recorded music with video.

 

Theatrical

  • 2 male soloists (Orfeus, The Prisoner)

  • 4 female female soloists (Euridice, The Furies)

  • 8 - 10 actors

  • 8 - 10 dancers

  • 1 keyboardist

  • 1 electric string player (cello or violin)

  • 1 jazz/trip hop ensemble (drums, bass, lead guitar, rhythm guitar, synths)

  • chamber orchestra

  • choir (16-20 voices)

  • 1 DJ

For the Theatrical production, the show is performed to a combination of live music, live-produced and pre-recorded electronic music (performed live by the DJ), and video.
